Education
Through education, individuals increase their potential for self-reliance and growth. With strong educational institutions, communities establish stability. The Foundation supports educational programs which advance independence and the initiative of the individual, and institutions which serve as anchors of their communities.
The Foundation considers general education grants to institutions, mostly in the greater Chicago area, that are focused on the creation of cutting edge programs providing education to underserved populations. The goal of such support is the revitalization of communities, the education of young people and building a foundation for economic growth and development.
The Foundation is committed to the principles of self-determination, self-respect, and individual initiative. The Foundation believes these characteristics are essential to the development of entrepreneurs and their pursuit of self-employment.
From 1981 through 2006 the Foundation has invested more than $37 million in the promotion of entrepreneurship as a profession and the establishment of quality programs of entrepreneurship education for students of all ages and practicing entrepreneurs. This dedication and focus has lead to many successful programs.
