General Education
While the majority of education funding gives emphasis to entrepreneurship education, the Foundation considers general education grants to exceptional institutions. These grants are mostly within the city of Chicago and focused on the creation of innovative programs that provide education to underserved individuals. The support is targeted at innovative programs that educate young people in underserved communities. Revitalization of communities and building a base for economic growth and development is the objective of such support.
The Foundation's board of directors sought to fund projects at a specific period of an institution’s life cycle that would propel expansion and growth of the educational institution, and serve as a community or neighborhood anchor.
