Youth Entrepreneurship
The Foundation provides national funding for entrepreneurship programs for students at the elementary and secondary levels of education that prepare and encourage youth to create a job rather than get a job. The Foundation supports youth entrepreneurship programs through outreach programs at colleges and universities around the country, and through non-profit organizations such as
- National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship
- Illinois Institute for Entrepreneurship Education
- Consortium for Entrepreneurship Education
Examples of other programs that promote self-employment to youth are the Generation E project, E city, American Dream Youthpreneurship, and Youth Communications.
Through a partnership with the Consortium for Entrepreneurship Education, grants of up to $3,000 were awarded to high school and college educators. The annual Entrepreneurship Education Forum offers an opportunity for educators to make presentations for the Elevator Grant Program to a panel of judges and the Coleman Foundation. Grants are awarded to schools around the country for programs that encourage educators to start or expand an entrepreneurship education program at their school.
