Youth Entrepreneurship
The Foundation provides funding for entrepreneurship education programs for students at the middle and secondary levels of education that prepare and encourage youth to "create a job" rather than "get a job." The Foundation supports youth entrepreneurship through outreach programs at colleges and universities around the country, and through partnerships with non-profit organizations such as:
- Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE)
- Consortium for Entrepreneurship Education
- Generation E Institute (Gen E)
Youth Entrepreneurship funding supports non profits with a local geographical focus. Examples of other programs that encourage youth to "create a job" rather than "seek a job" are the Illinois Institute for Entrepreneurship, E City, and programs through the Chicago Public Schools.
The Consortium for Entrepreneurship Education's annual Entrepreneurship Education Forum offers an opportunity for educators to participate in professional development to enhance their teaching methods. Grant funds to the Consortium provide scholaships for teachers to attend the Forum, and share best practices. Visit the Consortium web site for additional information at http://entre-ed.org/.
